COCKROACH it was all quiet on the western front 3 months had passed i hadn't seen a single cockroach there i was laying on my back $50 sofa bed chilling with a big spliff listening to the rain falling on the trees and the window panes. sounds of cars moving through wet roads were heavenly but every now and then There'd be some sound of police sirens and some junky saying mate you're a cunt a cunt he voice slows down diminishing into the distance. I feel the walls vibrate, i feel the walls vibrate, i feel the walls vibrate you be my love how i miss you.

THE MOST REQUESTED SONG IN THE WORLD Whenever i want you around you seem to confuse me, you seem to confront and confuse me with your smile. and now the future is a frown. whenever i want you to be near we Just can't see eye to eye, whenever it's cold outside. and now you seem to have gone. i don't know what went on but my brain all messed up and i must move on and i must move on.

I carry on, i carry on, and the ochre dawn it brings me back. to the darkest regions. of the human psyche, i will laugh at all the while,

FUCKED UP TOWN and the light came on, silhouette against the door, in the outside room, through the corridor, down the stairs, through the door, open my eyes, to the sky. and the light came on, silhouette against the door, in the outside room. through the corridor, down the stairs, through the front door, open my eyes, to the sky, and finding the ceiling still there. outside i fly higher, and higher, outside i fly higher higher, up above looking down, on this fucked up town, i don't frown every night u know, looking down, on this fucked up down, i don't cry, I don't know everything you know outside i fly, higher and higher outside i fly, higher and higher. outside i fly higher and higher. looking back and it's me again.

Brutalism
ummm...sorry!
***1/2
Brutal this ain't baby. Smooth blunt smoking electronic dubby bliss it is. Andy Fitzgerald has always made some kick ass dub and this is no exception. With summer around the corner and some serious back yard beer drinking spliff smoking times ahead, we may well have found the perfect soundtrack. Now where
the hell did I put the cover....

BRUTALISM
Longstanding Sydney dub dealer Andy
Fitzgerald returns from his Pear Shaped side-
stepping, to bag-up Atone's fourth LP. The sub-
lime vocals of [d]archangel Gina Mitchell and
master emcee Kye (Wicked Beat Soundsystem)
add their melodies to Fitzgerald's shadowy,
prowling dub/electro chunkiness, while guests
like long-time accomplice Ali Omar, Louis
Mitchell and remixer Dave Edwards help Atone
explore the underbelly of his adopted metrop-
olis. Apart from his usually sordid sonics -
which always give this listener the feeling of
voyeurism - Atone lets loose with an epic liner-
note horror story of cockroach-hell, alongside
an intriguing closer in 'Rat's Arse' where web
chatting lurks behind the peep hole.

*** 3 stars

Brutalism is by far one of the most
interesting albums to come from a local
producer this year to date. Spanning from
minimal house and techno to Rnb, from dub
to deep textual beats that do not want for
classification. The album represents
something fresh from of one Sydney's
premier underground producers Atone
casting off the shackles of the bleep and
squeak glitch genre that has ridden a lot of
fresh ideas into the ground in a narrow
minded scene. Sure there are some bleeps
and squeaks and lots of glitches, but it's
intuitive and inspiring. The album opens
with a great break and then delves into
some spacious soul inspired Rnb vocals on
the quiet minimal beats of 'Sometimes'
Probably the only common thread that links
the tracks of Brutalism together is their
spacious airy nature that has you floating
through a diverse selection of quality tunes
It's a turn in production technique for local
producers
